Spill Sessions are the heart of our membership! They are shorter, focused painting lessons designed to explore one single composition at a time. Each session painting tutorial typically consists of 2-4 parts, allowing you to move through one painting in clear, manageable stages without the overwhelm.
Some Spill Sessions are taught live, with replays included, while others are fully pre-recorded. All of these lessons are housed in your Membership's Spill Session Vault. New lessons are added regularly to keep your creative momentum going!

FAQs:
Spill Some Color is designed for beginner to intermediate painters. (Some experienced artists also join to loosen up, refresh their color intuition, and reconnect with expressive painting). You don’t need advanced skills - curiosity and willingness to experiment matter more.
Both! Inside each course, you’ll receive clear guidance and thoughtful structure - including paint lists, mixing instructions, reference images, drawing instructions, and other resources (depending on the lesson). At the same time, you’re encouraged to create something that’s truly your own. Rather than rigid recipes, I teach principles, color ranges, and decision-making skills, so you learn how to respond intuitively and make choices that feel right for your painting.
Your master list of materials / supplies is universal, meaning it will apply to all the classes in the membership (no need to acquire different sets of paint for each course). A comprehensive materials list is provided inside, but here is a brief summary:
Canvas sheets or stretched canvas (painting panels work too).
Brushes: Please have on hand at least 3-4 oil/acrylic brushes of different sizes (avoid softer watercolor brushes).
Palette: these days, Sta-Wet palette (for keeping your acrylics moist) is my personal favorite, but any type of palette will work - paper, glass, plastic, etc.
10 MAIN paint colors + 5-6 OPTIONAL colors (optional colors can be mixed, but buying them saves palette time).
Miscellaneous helpful studio items, such as: paper towels, water cups, pencil or charcoal for sketching, apron, easel (if you like using one), etc.
You’re not supposed to keep up with anyone but yourself. Seriously. This membership is designed to support you at your pace - whether that means painting a little every day or dipping in once a week (or even once a month). There’s no pressure, no race, and no falling behind.
Everyone shows up to this creative journey with a different rhythm. The real magic comes from showing up consistently in your own way - even small progress adds up beautifully over time.
Not at this time. SSC doesn’t include any portrait painting lessons. Our expressive subject focus is on landscapes, trees, flowers/plants, and nature-inspired scenes. We also welcome occasional guest appearances from insects, birds, perhaps even a building or two.
SSC is all about learning the process of expressive acrylic painting (and the mindset that supports it!). It does not offer art business courses. But we never discourage conversations around this subject! Inside of our community, you’re more than welcome to ask questions, swap tips, and get support around the topic of selling your art.
Absolutely. By joining Spill Some Color and showing up for the lessons and your own practice, you will grow as an expressive acrylic painter - no doubt about it. But if you find the membership isn’t the right fit, you can cancel anytime.
To cancel your membership, just send an email to paint@amakart.com before your next billing date, and you won’t be charged for the upcoming month. No extra hoops to jump through.
Your card will be charged right away for your first month. After that, it will be billed automatically on the same date each month.
